Once constructed right on the edge of the mighty Rheinwaldgletscher, the cabin today is close to the alluvial plain called «Ursprung» left behind by the melting ice and marking the source of Hinterrhein. What has remained is the view to Paradiesgletscher and Zapportgletscher at the foot of Rheinquellhorn. The still simple cabin with its original interior is an important base for ascents in the eastern Adula region, especially in winter.
