What to expect on this mountain
Musala (Мусала) is the highest peak of the Rila Mountains, of Bulgaria, and of the Balkan Peninsula. Elevation approximately 2,925.4 m. Coordinates: 42°10′47″N 23°35′12″E (decimal 42.17972, 23.58667).
Easiest walking access is via the gondola lift from Borovets followed by a hike to the summit. Musala lies within Rila National Park. Overnight accommodation is available in staffed chalets (for example, Moussala Chalet and Everest Lodge). Camping and fires are restricted to designated sites by park rules.
