Easiest route is a hike. Dirt roads cross the western and eastern margins of the summit caldera. Fieldwork and visits are limited by remoteness and by political and logistical difficulties; some organized travel operators advertise expeditions to the Tibesti/Emi Koussi area. Local authorities or an embassy can provide current guidance.
