Active volcano and the highest peak in West/Central Africa, with a summit around 4,095 m (13,435 ft). Coordinates reported by the Smithsonian Global Volcanism Program are approximately 4.203°N, 9.17°E; OpenStreetMap/Nominatim lists a node at 4.2180273°N, 9.1733628°E. The mountain rises above the towns of Buea (southeastern slope) and Limbe (southern foot) and lies within Mount Cameroon National Park. It is used for recreational walking and hiking, summit climbs, and is the route for the annual Mount Cameroon Race of Hope (about 38 km from Buea to the summit and back).
