Mountain base

Mount Cameroon (Mount Fako)

Active volcano and highest peak in West/Central Africa (summit ~4,095 m / 13,435 ft). Coordinates reported by the Smithsonian GVP ~4.203°N, 9.17°E (OpenStreetMap/Nominatim node at lat 4.2180273, lon 9.1733628). The mountain sits above the towns of Buea (southeastern slope) and Limbe (southern foot) and is managed within Mount Cameroon National Park; it is used for recreational walking/hiking, summit climbs and hosts the annual Mount Cameroon Race of Hope (~38 km Buea–summit–return).
