Adventure destination

Botswana

Botswana is stronger for safari, paddling, and desert travel than for mountain holidays, though the Tsodilo Hills and eastern uplands add some walking interest. A sensible choice for travelers who want wildlife-led adventure rather than trekking.

Choose a region first, then browse the mountains, routes, adventures, accommodation, activities, and planning towns within it.

Mountain base

Otse Hill

Otse Hill is a sandstone peak near the village of Otse in South‑East District, Botswana. It is widely cited in maps and references with a summit elevation of about 1,491 m (the 1999 Department of Surveys and Mapping 1:50,000 topographic map shows a trigonometrical station at 1,491 m). SRTM-derived cells report ~1,486 m and some modern sources list elevations near 1,492–1,493 m. Recent GNSS surveying (2025) measured Monalanong Hill as ~1.87 m higher than Otse, making Monalanong the country's true national highpoint according to that survey.
